I asked Albert, an ex-seminarian and now staff of the Little Bridge Resort, if anybody interviewed him about Fr Suarez. He said nobody had asked him but people themselves were the ones telling what they experienced with Fr. Fernando Suarez.
When I asked Albert about his experience with Fr Suarez, his response was “He is unpredictable. He is anointed.”
According to Albert, no matter how organized Fr. Suarez was, his schedule always went haywire. He is anointed in the sense that there were always side trips that caused delays to his appointments or attendance to invitations. Most often attending to these unanticipated activities were actually a replication to what they needed.
Once, Fr Suarez was talking to Albert about his plan of installing an iron gate for the area called "Langit sa Lupa." He would like to know where he can find the proper steel works for it. They were on their way that time to a pre-scheduled event where the host invited influential guests to meet with him. He suddenly received a call requesting him to come and pray for them over. He then instructed his driver to divert to that location and they will attend to that request first.
He prayed over the sick patient and after the prayers he was rushing to go to his original destination. The requestee told him that he will assist him if ever Fr Suarez will need help in the future. Fr Suarez then asked what his business was, his business is scraps - mostly steel/iron scraps.
These kind of instances happened while he was still alive. They got used to the unpredictable schedules and always changing decisions. All turned out to be blessings at the end. Even now that he is already gone, there are times that they cannot stick to the agreed plans and schedules. “We just tell ourselves, Fr. Suarez is around and so we have to follow where the hands of God will lead us.”
