Let me share a true story.
There was once a student who has a twin. They were attending a local school in the US. One day during their class the teacher asked the students who among them goes to church on Sabbath day. Everyone stood up. He asked who goes to Anglican Church. 3 boys raised their hands. He asked them to sit down. He asked who are Adventists, and asked them to be seated. He asked who are Lutherans, he asked them to have their sit. He asked who the Methodists are, they were asked to be seated as well. After almost everyone has settled down, there were only two boys who were still standing. The twin brothers were asked to what church they two go. They go to Catholic Church. The teacher then informed the students that the Catholic Church is the first Christian Church.
The next day, a lot of parents came to school and complained about the teacher. Their children told them what the teacher said and that made them all upset. They would like to give him a disciplinary action, have him suspended or the worst, get him terminated. The School Administrator called the teacher and asked for an explanation. The teacher in all his confidence responded. I am a Methodist. But I have to say what I have to say. What I said is the truth. I am a History teacher and I cannot change the veracity of the history just because the parents are upset. The History shows that the first church is the Catholic Church and I cannot do anything about it.
The history teacher didn't just teach the students the history, he taught them the truth. He taught them honesty and he showed them how to be humble. He is a Methodist and he could simply be biased and say something else or skip the subject. But he was firm that the truth should be taught and accept it no matter how hurting it could be even to himself.
And that was the reason why the Catholic boys were the last ones standing.
