Unexplainables

One of the things that happens when there is death in the family is the visiting of relatives who can tell and clarify things about family stories.

One of our relatives, Maria Evaristo Banatin, used to be the Branch Manager of Rural Bank of Canlubang. She is a respected figure in our place. She was able to tell us her story and we found out how things became extraordinary out of her humble life.

She is one of the daughters of Angela Quiambao and Thomas Evaristo who worked for the Yulo's in Canlubang hospital. Her parents cannot send her to school so she stayed with my grandma, Miguela Quiambao Bernarte. My granny was very sickly those days and Tita Maria with Tita Lita Sabio lived with her helping her with house chores. She was hoping she will eventually be sent to school to continue her studies.

Last night I asked Tita Mary about her experience that I heard was unexplainable or magical. She confirmed that it happened one night that she and my grandma was lying in bed to sleep when a bright ray of light lit up from her foot to the ceiling of the house. My grandma started shouting "Brilliante! Brilliante!" She took that brightly glowing thing and slowly disappeared on her palm. When the story was told everybody agreed Tita Mary will have a bright future.

Indeed she has but she didn't just sit down and waited. She worked hard. She studied at night time and worked at daytime. When she was already working with the bank, she was still accepting sewing jobs at night. And her life progressed. Her clientelle flourished.  The bank owners were also happy about her performance and appointed her as the CEO of the branch. She started having tellers, bookeepers, workers and helpers. It all went well for her.

Her last words about her story, "I had employees who finished from different universities and I am their big boss. I didnot even finish my studies. But God has plans for me. I trusted Him and He lead me to where I am now."
