When I was younger, I always dreamed of having an apartment. I told myself it is going to be an accomplishment for me.
We used to live in Canlubang, the Sugar Estate owned by the Yulo's. It was a benefit to my father being an employee of the Yulo's. When my father left his job, we were forced to leave the beautiful Canlubang. My "nanay" (mom) looked for a place where we could stay. We lived at Checkpoint for a month. It was a one bedroom apartment. All of us had to squeeze in. Life was very difficult those days. We moved to a 2 bedroom apartment after a month in Barangay Paciano. Then to 2 more places before we permanently moved in to where my parents live now.
When I was younger, I also dreamed of having a van.
While most of our relatives had their own vehicles, our family used to use public transport. I told myself once. "I wonder how fun it would be like to have my own car." The thought of having a big vehicle my big family can use to stroll around is the meaning of real good fun for me.
During those times, these were all but dreams. But God must have read all my wants, my desires and he slowly gave me what I wished for. After years of working in Papua New Guinea I was able to buy a piece of land which I left vacant for over 5 years. It was only now (started March 19, 2012) that a building is constructed. Soon on it will rise a 7 unit apartment. Couple of years ago, I was able to buy a second hand Mercedez van. Now is the realizations of my dreams.
When I ask myself, how was I able to do it, all I can remember is that I prayed. I thanked God for everything life has offered me. All the pain, sadness, joy and graces. I asked God to be generous to my wants. And simultaneously, I was giving my best to the responsibilities I was given.
Ask, believe...thank God in advance, He'll give you what you want. :)
